2012 Message From The President
You Can Compete With Anyone In The World!
Manufacturing in the United States is as strong as it has ever been, and I believe it will continue to be even stronger in 2012. The predictions for next year are for a marginally improved economy. Economists believe we will see GDP growth rates between 2% and 2.5 %; unemployment is expected to drop within 8.2% and 8.8%; and inflation rates should remain subdued at our current core level. Manufacturing is the backbone of any economy, and it is no different in the United States. Sometimes it takes a loud knock at the door to wake a sleeping giant, but this giant is wide awake and we are poised and ready to help take you to the next level.
Thanks to you, 2011 was the strongest year in Hartwig’s rich 51 year old history. To give you a snapshot of what we now have to support you; we currently have 147 teammates, adding 25 new members in 2011. We’re proud of all current and new employees and we’re especially honored that 5 of our new additions are former military veterans returning from serving our country. We’re thankful for their sacrifice and service to our country, and proud to offer them a home here at Hartwig.
It’s easy to say we grew, but where we added staff and why is most important. Our overall growth came focused on customer support. We now have 19 applications engineers, 49 service engineers, and 8 parts coordinators to support you. My father, Paul Hartwig, the founder of our company believed if you take care of your customers and hire the right people, your business will always grow. How true his words were then and how critical they still are now. I am confident that all 147 teammates truly embrace and live our mission statement – “Hartwig, Inc. helps people in manufacturing control their destiny every day.”
Please remember, if we’re going to keep this manufacturing giant awake and moving forward, then we need to continue to innovate, engineer, and compete with the world. 2012 is a critical year for all of us. Please exercise your American freedoms and vote. Be sure to be at the polling stations later this year.
Never does a day go by that we do not feel grateful for having the most discriminating and appreciative customers. Over the years, we’ve learned more from you than any other source of information. Day after day you inspire us to live up to your high expectations.
My sincerest appreciation,
Gary Hartwig
