Hartwig knowledge for the soul

Your hole size will be undersized, egg shaped and could even have chatter marks.

((Hole Dia. - Tool Dia.) x Feed Rate) / Hole Dia. = New Feed Rate

EXP #1: Lets say you have a .750 dia. hole and you need to use a .500 dia. cutter to finish it. Your recommended feed from the factory is 13.0
((.750 - .500) x F13.0) / .750 = F4.3

This will put the proper load on your cutting tool for the surface area that the cutter is contacting inside the hole.

EXP #2: Lets say you have a .750 dia. hole and you need to use a .250 dia. cutter to finish it. Your recommended feed from the factory is 13.0

((.750 - .250) x F13.0) / .750 = F8.6

This will put the proper load on your cutting tool for the surface area that the cutter is contacting inside the hole.
