Customer says Okamoto requires no service Saint Gobain has had a major presence in the United States and Canada since 1967, beginning with a joint venture with CertainTeed Corporation, Valley Forge, Pennsylvania. Since 1990, it has vastly increased its presence through an aggressive program of acquisition and internal development. Saint-Gobain's businesses in the United States and Canada now account for 16 percent of the company's worldwide sales and 11 percent of its employees. Some of the industries they manufacture for are construction, high performance materials, packing, flat glass, and building distribution. At this particular location, they manufacture ceramic for the food, beverage, and medical industries. In 2007, Saint Gobain purchased two Okamoto 12 36 OGM grinders to grind down the ceramic after it has been fired in the kiln for 5 days. After the kiln operation, the ceramic tubes go into the grinders for a 6 hour grinding and cutoff process. To date, they have not had a single service call and they run 6 days a week for 12-20 hours per day depending on their work load. The operator, Terry Besler, really likes both of the grinders. He says "both machines hold tolerances extremely well and generally don't change size throughout the day". Terry went on to say "both machines have worked out fantastic. Both are easy to run, very consistent and very easy to run." You can contact Terry with Saint Gobain at (719) 596-2484. |
