Comanche, OK customer says okuma is trouble free
JC & J has 15 employees and runs two shifts out of the 15,000 sq ft shop that is divided into two 7,500 sq ft sections. Junior opened JC & J in 1995 with the purchase of his first Okuma, a used LC30 2-axis turning center and purchased his first new machine in 1997, an Okuma Crown turning center. JC & J currently uses 8 various sized Okuma turning centers that provide standard 2-axis, live tool mill/drill and 4-axis capability of up to 34" swing over the bed and part length of 118". Junior buys primarily Okuma because of the overall quality of the machine, which gives him the advantages of very high machine uptime, long machine tool life, the advantages the Okuma OSP control brings to his shop, and the quality after sale support provided by Hartwig and Okuma. The only non-Okuma machine tool at JC & J is a competitor's 50 taper, 60" x 30" table vertical machining center that Junior told us he was relatively happy with. In April of 2007, we got a call from Junior saying he was very upset with our competitor and wanted to know how quickly we could sit down to discuss what Okuma had to offer that was equal in size to his existing VMC. A few weeks later we delivered his new Okuma MA650VB Vertical Machining Center. Junior has both VMC's side by side and now tells us there is really no comparison when looking at capability of the competitor's machine vs the Okuma. With the competitor's machine they had continual problems with machine rigidity and lack of power, which created chatter as well as various other machining problems. With the Okuma, rigidity and power problems are not an issue, which allows parts to be machined without chatter and basically trouble free.
