Harnessing the wind For more information click here and fill out the request form and also watch a short movie. It's no secret that many of us are facing the harsh realities of a slow economy. Like any good business in a slow time we have been analyzing hot markets in the industry. One of those hot markets is wind power. While wind power has been growing quite steadily for some time it was spurred on last year with a surge in energy prices. Wind energy continues to grow in popularity based on this momentum. The new government administration has been promoting renewable energy by declaring a goal of 20% dependence on wind followed by a tremendous infusion of capitol to spur its continued growth. The question remains, how can we (Hartwig) help you, our customers, to enter into this rapidly growing market? - Work with your Hartwig sales engineer to establish a company profile for your business. This should include a capabilities listing... machines, measuring equipment, company profile, etc... make sure to include anything that may make you unique to others in this business... Got a high tech piece of equipment that can really make a difference? Let us and them know about it!
- Be prepared: most of the parts required to build a wind turbine are BIG!... If your company has the ability to handle large parts it'll be an advantage!
- Get to know your local "Wind Energy Associations":
- Many of these associations have membership directories that will help to get you in touch with local wind turbine businesses.
- Quite a few of these associations host symposiums and conventions where you will have the opportunity to showcase your company's capabilities.
- You can find these associations very easy by searching the net. If you need help, let us know and we'll put you in touch.
- Hartwig does indeed have plans to attend a few of these conferences and as such will be promoting our customers and their capabilities. Remember that company profile we mentioned? Get it to your sales engineer and we will do our best to promote you while we are in front of those looking for suppliers!
- Hartwig has an extensive database set up for wind energy that includes part descriptions, current OEMs, and machines capable of handling these parts. If you need access to this data, work with your Hartwig sales engineer and he'll get you what you need.
- Also get to know your states department of economic development. These departments know what companies are expanding or moving into the area. They also know what funding is available to assist in future enterprises such as expansion of manufacturing for wind energy projects.
- If you'd like to get a first-hand view of the parts and turbines up close before attacking this market I would plan on attending the Wind Power Expo in Chicago, May 4th - 7th.
